The 15th edition of the Avant Guardian photography competition, hosted by Surface magazine, continues its annual search for new and emerging US-based talent, whether they shoot still-life, fashion or anything in between. The 10 winning submissions will be featured in the magazine’s October 2015 issue, timed with a special exhibition in New York and—in its past years—the contest has served as a useful platform for winners to expand their commercial and editorial careers. The star-studded panel of judges includes esteemed experts from Swiss-French architectural photographer Hélène Binet to Stephen Hilger, chair of Pratt Institute’s Photography Department. Now in its final days of open call, the deadline for applications closes 1 June 2015; the submission fee is $25.
