Helle of Norway’s Utvær Knife

Designed by Denmark’s Jesper Voxnaes, an all-purpose quality blade for the wilderness

Norway’s westernmost islands are marked by a stark beauty that is something of an acquired taste. Weather-beaten rocks stand firm at the intersection of the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea, with seagrasses and moss the only plant life evident. It’s this particularly elemental brand of form and beauty that Norwegian knife-makers Helle named their newly released Utvær piece after. Designed by Jesper Voxnaes—known for his extremely simple yet functional designs generally sold under the Vox Knives brand—Utvær features a four-inch Sandvik 12C27 steel blade, a material celebrated for its durability and edge retention. Meanwhile a hand-finished curly birch handle promises a sure and unyielding grip. With strength and functionality in mind, the Utvær is designed with a wide range of capabilities—from trimming tree branches to filleting fresh-caught fish. Voxnaes and the Helle team put the Utvær to the test in the Scandinavian wilderness, ensuring the knife lived up to the brand’s reputation for quality.

A handmade do-it-all knife for the wilderness, the lifetime guaranteed Utvær comes with genuine leather sheath. Visit Helle for more information, where the Utvær retails for $239.
