of Montreal: It’s Different For Girls

In a colorful, joyous dance party music video, of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes explains (as best a man can) how “It’s Different For Girls.” The lead single from the band’s upcoming album Innocence Reaches is delightfully playful, but still on point lyrically. Lines like “It’s different for girls / From when they are children they’re depersonalized / Aggressively objectified” and, “For every one psycho chick, there’s 10,000 hateful pricks” feel very real, but in true of Montreal style, the song steers clear of becoming too pessimistic by relying on uplifting grooves, synths and just the right amount of psychedelia.
