A Mexican Pueblo Becomes a Massive Mural

Germen Crew—a youth organization and street art group—has transformed a Mexican hillside into one of the world’s largest murals. The Mexican government commissioned the creation of the massive art work as a way to revitalize the small Sinoloa pueblo—which has been called “the drug capital of Mexico.” Germen Crew (similar to Haas&Hahn’s project in Brazil) spent five months painting the white-washed walls of over 200 homes, resulting in a spectacular, unified mural when viewed from afar. The government hopes the artwork will ignite a new sense of pride in the community.
